Plastic business cards

Whether it’s related to our love affair with the credit card or our broadening use of gift cards, plastic cards' sex appeal is real. A business card that is made like a credit card and feels like a credit card has a high perceived value. This makes it harder for anyone to throw it away and, will very likely be shown to others simply because of how great it looks and feels.

Plastic business cards are also "ice breakers" when meeting a client for the first time. As one of our clients always says (a Porsche representative) "Whenever I give a client one of my plastic business cards we always talk about the card first, and then about the car... and I sell Porsche cars!"

When thinking about plastic cards, make sure you also get artwork that matches the value of your plastic cards. The artwork doesn't have to be complicated or extremely detailed, but it does have to be clean, professional and straight to the point. See more samples in our online portfolio. The template below is the most popular shape we print for plastic cards, however, we are not limited to this shape, we can also create many different cuts based on custom shapes, sizes, and for different purposes, designed by you or for you. The standard extra charge for a custom diecut is $180 plus the added material for larger cards.

Available features for plastic cards

FULL COLOR printing on both sides of the card 

Full color printing with full bleed on both sides of the cards. Additionally, we offer METALLIC SILVER and GOLD ink also at no extra cost (CMYK + Metallic Silver + Metallic Gold).

Choice of THICKNESS: 

0.30mm, 0.46mm or 0.76mm

0.76mm is the standard credit card thickness, it's also known as 30mil or CR80. The suggested minimum thickness for a plastic card is 0.46mm. We also offer thicker cards but extra costs will apply. 

Choice of FINISH: 

Soft Matte, Rough Matte (textured) or Traditional Glossy Finish.

Choice of FINISH with SPOT Lamination: 

In additions to a choice of Soft Matte, Rough Matte or traditional Glossy Finish, we also give you the possibility to "SPOT" laminate areas on your cards. This is commonly used to highlight shapes, logos etc. on your card, but you can also do the reverse by making the card mainly glossy and some smaller areas matte. Note that Spot lamination does involve a margin of error, therefore very small areas to isolate are not recommended.

"GLITTER EFFECT" (added to a Glossy or Matte finish)

This effect recreates the Metallic Shine commonly found on gold or platinum cards. You can select this effect to create a traditional Gold or Platinum card but we also offer it on any color or image/design. Glitter adds class and also adds dimension and/or perspective to most designs.

Choice of TRANSPARENCY: 

Opaque, Clear, or Clear Frosted cards.

Opaque cards are regular white cards. Clear cards are glossy, perfectly transparent cards. Clear frosted cards are also transparent plastic cards, however, they have a frosted finish which makes them far more resistant to scratches than glossy clear cards.

We can individualize cards for use with memberships list, data sheets, promo codes, access codes etc. We can also sequentially number cards or number them based on your Excel of text files.

WRITABLE STRIPS (PANELS) in any size, shape or number 

Writable Panels are available in any size, shape or number (for Signature strips, Data Fields, Notes etc.). You can create a card with multiple small writable fields or you can cover a whole side to make it an area for notes.

HOTSTAMPING of aluminum foil 

Various colors of foil are available for hotstamping. We offer free hotstamping of SILVER, GOLD or HOLOGRAPHIC foil. Holographic foil is a silver looking foil which shows different shades of color at different angles. Note that hotstamping is recommended for larger shapes and text, not fineprint.

MAGNETIC STRIPES (LoCo / HiCo) 

We offer three track Low coercivity (LoCo) and High coercivity (HiCo) magnetic stripes. Encoding of tracks is available on track 1, 2 or 3. (Note that we do not offer POS systems, card readers or encoders... we specialize in designing and printing the cards only)

SCRATCH-OFF Panels 

These are commonly used to cover surprise gifts, codes, surprise discounts, data, icons etc. The client/user receives the card in the mail, at a store, or event and then gets to simply scratch off the panel to reveal the information. You can include more than one scratch panel on your design, however, too many panels can leave residual "scratch-off" material on your cards.
